The heater block is the part of the hotend that holds the heater cartridge, thermistor and nozzle together, transferring heat from the cartridge into the filament path. This replacement is machined from aluminium and supplied without a nozzle, so you can reuse your existing nozzle or fit a new one. Hotend blocks come in different patterns that share the M6 nozzle thread and 6 mm heater-cartridge bore but differ in size and hole positions, such as V6 at 20 × 16 × 11.5 mm and MK8 at 20 × 20 × 10 mm, so match it to your hotend before fitting. Replace the block when threads are stripped or it is coated in burnt filament after a leak, and tighten the nozzle against the heat break while hot to prevent new leaks.
