U Shaped Photoelectric Sensor
Slotted optical interrupter module that detects objects passing through its gap, ideal for encoder wheels, RPM counting and end-stops.
An infrared LED and a phototransistor face each other across the U-shaped slot, and the output changes state whenever something opaque blocks the beam between them. The slot is 10 mm wide, using an H2010 slotted coupler, and an LM393 comparator on the board turns the signal into a clean digital output suitable for GPIO pins and interrupts, while an LED shows when the beam is broken. It runs on 5 V and pairs naturally with slotted encoder discs to measure wheel speed or count rotations on robot chassis. Other uses include paper and coin detection, limit switches and position homing.
